Τhis month your μηλιά will wander within her own beautiful island of Cyprus. Her ‘apples’ are planning fragrant day trips, alternative bus routes, camping weekends, gorge walks, brave dips, tours with friends new and old and much more!

This way we’ll experience our island as others might, meet its diverse places and people and explore our own potential, interests and skills as travelers.

A very special journey | μηλιά’s travel symposium 31st March 2012

A day that truly broadened our horizons – we’re still wide eyed by how much we saw, heard, shared, felt and understood together.

February 2012 | Travel Season Begins!

Your μηλιά embarked on new adventures with our new season on the theme of travel.

This month, every Friday from 6pm we gathered at the μηλιά HQ (off Aeshylou Street, next to 7 Kleidia Cafe, near the Faneromeni car park) and shared experiences, photographs, stories, tea, goodness and more on this magical theme of travel.

November 2011| Faneromeni Public Toilets Apples Decor Extraordinaire!

If you go down to the loos today you’re in for a big surprise!

Yes you heard it right: our apples exclusively designed and decorated the entrance of Faneromeni’s Public Toilets and Parking on World Toilet Day Saturday 19th November 2011 .

Lizards, tigers, doves, butterflies, gnomes, pacman, ghosts, trees, apples, little alice on her swing and much much more now populate and prettify your city centre’s public toilets. Go see them, use them and treat them right good people.

Massive congratulations to master of the month Odysseas ‘the snake charmer’ and his worthy slaves Christina, Maria M, Christodoulos, Eva, NIcholas, Vasiliki & Maria P for such beautiful work and more magical moments to laugh about under our tree for seasons to come.

Many thanks to the Mayor and Municipality of Nicosia for your support and visit, and to all the lovely people of the area who came by with bemused smiles, encouragement, tea and cake.

November 2011 | Gardening in the City and beyond

Apples with their keen green fingers ventured out of the city centre on Saturday 5th November for a special milia visit to Athalassa Forest Park and Garden Centre.

Our apple tree loved learning of its special family of Cypriot trees and plants from all over the island, as we heard  from our expert friend and host Glafkos who led us through this wanderland of greenery and light. Thank you hugely for simply allowing us to breath such goodness

Returning to the heart of the capital, apples sought spots for planting, and the municipality even showed us a special new green space where we may well get to play in and care for in true milia fashion  - watch this space and see these pics.

October 2011 | Souvla at μηλιά HQ

After the fun and games of the treasure hunt, apples invited their guests to join them in getting down to the serious business of eating souvla at the makeshift barbeque yard of the μηλιά HQ! Special thanks to our uncles Marios, Nicholas, Stelios & Charalambos and their happy helpers Maria and Tonia mas for cooking up such a fine feast for us all to come home from the hunt to. Beware not to drool too much as you see more photos here of us eating!

October 9th 2011 | Treasure Hunt: μηλιά in Nicosia

A delightful Sunday morning was spent by an organising team of apples and the fifteen fantastic teams who joined us hunting in the heart of the city: chasing cheeky clues to curious corners all over the old town, peeling cucumbers, jumping in potato & postal sacks, composing and chanting chatista, and receiving their rather original milia prizes!

Thanks all for taking part and making it such a fantastic event: the photos speak and laugh for themselves. Massive bravissimo to our Christodoulos & Vasiliki and all their worthy slaves Christina, Antonis, Odysseas & Maria for such a truly grand success. Here’s to many more!!!

October 2011| μηλιά @ Gynaikobazaro

Our lady applelettes put aside all concerns for gender stereotypes last month, took out their sewing kits and created beautiful pouches, books, and accessories for milia’s first stall in the women’s arts and crafts bazaar in Faneromeni, Central Nicosia. Congratulations Sophia, Myrto, Vasiliki, Christina and Maria for working your crafty and entrepreneurial magic in the commercial heart of our project, and thanks too to our lovely visitors and customers – two particularly budding apple seeds took a over the shop at some point!
